VIDEO: INSURANCE LAWYER CLIENT TESTIMONIAL
Job overview
David Graham Insurance Law acquired a new client that experienced roof damage and leaking from Hurricane Irma. The leaking caused an incredible amount of drywall and ceiling damage. The homeowners sought legal representation from David Graham Insurance Law. We were hired by the firm to capture the damages while they were new and interview the client. The video would be used to market their firm on social, their website, and used to strengthen the homeowner’s insurance claim to avoid potential disputes.
Our direction
The most important thing we needed to do was to capture as much of, if not all, the damage we possibly could. We documented the roof, ceiling, floors, baseboards, etc., and even used a human subject in the video as a reference to show the size of the tree that had fallen. We wanted the video to feel gentle and that would invoke an emotional response from an audience but that was strictly predicated on homeowner’s interview. We couldn’t make any final decisions until reviewing the footage to see what direction we would take the video. The reason for this is the video needed to be as authentic and realistic as possible with no manipulation or scripting as this is a legal case. We set up our scene, sat the homeowner down, asked her a few questions with very little direction, and a handful of takes later we were finished. The homeowner’s screen presence and calm demeanor matched the tone of the video we initially wanted so it worked out perfectly. The piece remained authentic and true. The final result made for a clean and professional documentary style piece for the law firm that they could use for their social media platforms and advertising.

Video Marketing for Lawyers and Law Firms
We’ve spent an extensive amount of time researching the legal field and market. From the types of users to target, where to target them, how to target them, and what type of content to use to target them. In order for us to understand what type of content to produce we need to understand the firm we’re working with, their competitors, and their market.
What are your competitors doing locally? What are they doing statewide? Nationwide? Where do their and your clients come from? Where are they and you pushing video content and advertisements? Where are they and you getting calls from? Where are their your website visitors coming from? Data is content’s best friend.
These are just several of the many questions we ask you and ourselves and are crucial in not just video marketing for lawyers but also in a general sense. We need to understand the in’s and out’s of your field and your competition. The legal field is a very aggressive and competitive market, and we’re prepared to go tooth and nail against it with you.
The types of video content we noticed are the most important:
- Reviews: Honest Client Testimonials to showcase successful clients and previously won cases.
- Educational Videos: Practice Area Videos that are informative and provides value.
- Narrative/Documentary: Videos that tell and share stories, invoke emotional responses, and create a connection.
Show reviews and happy clients, educate users on the area of law that applies to their situation, and tell stories rather than sell services. Let your happy clients talk for you. Share stories. Remembering this one sentence and it will change the way your law firm marketing and video production:
No one wants a lawyer. They need a lawyer.
No one is going on Facebook looking for a lawyer. They’re going to Google, Bing, or Yelp for that. They go on social media to connect with friends and look at funny videos of cats and epic fail videos. We’re not saying don’t push content on social media. We highly recommend you do. What we’re saying is you should audit your approach in what type of content you promote and where you place said content. No one is opening the Facebook app, going to the search bar, and typing “Lawyers near me”. They’re going to do that on Google, Bing, or Yelp. What they’re more inclined to do on Facebook is creating a post to their friends asking for “lawyer recommendations” to which their friends will list law firms they’ve worked with or people they know to be honest and reputable.
We’re going to get more into video marketing for lawyers on a separate post educating law firms and lawyers how to approach producing video content to market their firms.
